New York Racing Returns to the Big A

Yesterday was opening day at Aqueduct which featured the G2 Nashua Stakes for 2 YO’s going 1 mile for a purse of $200,000.

Even money favorite Mohaymen took the opening day feature completing the distance in 23.47 46.90 1:10.78 1:36.1 for Shadwell Farm and trainer Kiaran McLauglin.
The two-year-old son of Tapit and the mare Justwhistledixie is now 2 for 2 having won his maiden outing at Belmont on September 9 running the 6 furlongs in 1:10.16 and appears to be pointed to the G2 Remsen on November 28.
Today’s Feature Race
There’s 8 races carded for today at Aqueduct which features an $80,000 optional claiming allowance for a purse of $67,000.
The race is for 3YO fillies going 1 1/16 miles on the turf and with the scratch of Doinwhatshelikes the field is down to 6 runners with only Rock Me Again running for the tag.
Rock Me Again is a Pennsylvania bred daughter of Rock Hard Ten who runs in the colors of Three Diamonds Farm and DASL for trainer Todd Pletcher. She has a win, three seconds and a third in 7 lifetime starts for earnings of just over $80,000 and will be ridden by Luis Saez.

Race of the Day
The DRF.com race of the day is the 6th from Aqueduct.
The race is a MDSW for fillies and mares 3 YO and up going 1 mile on the turf for a purse of $60,000. The field has scratched down to 9 runners including the Gary Contessa entry of Aimone and Neilinger listed at 10 to 1.
Sokie is the early favorite at 2 to 1 off a second place finish on the inner turf at Belmont last month. Kodiva is second choice in the morning line at 3 to 1 having finished third 3 1/2 lengths back of the favorite.
Longshot Pick
The first time starter Mayas Queen Neetee is a 3 YO daughter of Speightstown who’s been working good at the Spa for this race and is worth a look at 12 to 1.
