DEL MAR, Calif. – Oct. 31, 2025 – Trainer Bill Mott announced that Sovereignty, the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner, has been withdrawn from the $7 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic scheduled for Saturday at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club.

The decision follows the colt’s arrival at Del Mar, where he developed a low-grade fever. Veterinary examination confirmed no underlying serious conditions, and the withdrawal is a precautionary measure to ensure his full recovery and future racing soundness.

“We appreciate the support from fans and the Breeders’ Cup team,” said Mott. “Sovereignty’s health remains our top priority, and we look forward to his return to competition in 2026.”

Owned by Godolphin, the 3-year-old son of Into Mischief entered the week as the morning-line favorite at 6-5 odds. His absence has adjusted the morning line, with Forever Young now listed at 3-1, followed by City of Light at 4-1 and White Abarrio at 5-1.

Sovereignty’s connections expressed gratitude for the understanding from the racing community and confirmed plans for a rest period before resuming training.
