Exaggerator Takes Delta Downs Jackpot

Heavy favorite Exaggerator holds off Sunny Ridge to win the G3 $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot

Trained by Keith Desormeaux and ridden by jockey Kent Desormeaux for Big Chief Racing LLC, Exaggerator ran the 1 1/16 mile distance in a final time of 1:46.48 over a track that was labeled muddy.

In addition to earning the $600,000 winner’s share of the purse, Exaggerator, a 2 YO son of Curling also earned 10 points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby and a possible spot in the starting gate for the 2016 Kentucky Derby.

Second choice Sunny Ridge finished second at 4 to 1 and long shot Harlan Punch closed out the trifecta at 17 to 1. Found Money finished fourth in the field 10 2 YO’s.

Turning for home Exaggerator held a half-length lead over Sunny Ridge and they continued that way to the wire.

The fractional times were 23.49, 47.53, 1:13.47 and the mile was completed in 1:39.90 over the offtrack.
