Distance: 1 1/8 miles (Track Record – 1:47.4)

The 2016 Spinster Stakes is one of two races today at Keeneland that are part of the Breeders’ Cup Win and You’re In Challenge Series and will go as the 9th race on the card.
The winner will earn an automatic berth in the starting gate for the Breeders’ Cup Distaff and will most likely have to face the undefeated favorite, Songbird.
Songbird, who has been undeniable in each of her 11 starts going back to her maiden win at Del Mar in July of 2015, has not won any of the 2016 BC Challenge races but owns the crown for having won the 2015 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Keeneland.
There is one other BC Challenge race today at Keeneland where the winner of the Dixiana Bourbon Stakes will earn a berth in the Juvenile Turf. The 2016 Win and You’re In Challenge series will close out on Wednesday October 12, with the running of the JP Morgan Chase Jessamine Stakes. That races winner will get a chance to start in the Juvenile Fillies Turf.
- Paid Up Subscriber – 7 to 2, Jose Ortiz – Keeneland’s 2016 Fall meet was barely a day old and Ortiz already had 3 wins from 9 starts on the opening day card. Gets the call on this one for Al Stall who struck out on opening day with his three runners. Horse is also 0 for 3 at Keeneland since maiden voyage in April ’15. Was beaten 2 lengths in the Personal Ensign by the favorite in here and both have been off since that Aug. 27th try. Hope is to gain a spot in BC Distaff next month at Santa Anita but with poor performances over the surface, can’t see her getting it.
- Miss Pink Diva – 15 to 1, Shaun Bridgmohan – Only lifetime win from 13 tries was here at the Keeneland Spring meet a few months back at today’s distance. Aside from that she’s over-matched any way you slice it.
- I’m a Chatterbox – 4 to 5, Florent Geroux – Two wins from 4 tries this year. Broke maiden here in ’14 then returned to finish 8th in G1 BC Distaff last year. Opened ’16 campaign with a runner up finish in G3 Doubledogdare before taking next two at Delaware. She’s the one to beat but price makes her hard to bet.
- Engaginglee – 8 to 1, Luis Saez – Faced a couple of these in the past in Paid Up Subscriber and Miss Pink Diva beating the later in the G3 Locust Grove last time out at Churchill over the mud. Three back was a loser to the rail drawn horse by 5 at this distance. Only start here was a fourth place finish on the grass before returning to break maiden at CD in Nov. ’14 in race originally carded for turf but moved to main track so appears to have affinity for less than fast going.
- Genre – 7 to 2, Javier Castellano – Took $200K stakes at Thistle going 1 1/4 miles and will cut back today. Earned a win and a second at Keeneland before stepping up in defeat to the favorite at Delaware in June. Wone the G3 Molly Pitcher at Monmouth by a neck over the slop two back. If she takes another step forward, just might be able to swing the upset. The pick.
