Gulfstream Park – Race 4

Here’s the field from the rail out with morning line odds, jockey, trainer, and comments.

  1. Tone Feelin (5-2), M Vasquez, Rohan Crichton – Passed his NW3L test last time out at this distance and will make his third start for trainer who is sending out winners at a 17% rate. Has two wins and a second in his last five starts from the 1 post. Takes a slight step up but likes being inside horses.
  2. Double Tough Tiger (6-1), T Gaffalione, Calo Caramori – Drops back into claiming company since taken in a shake for $20K last July at Ellis. Was 6th at Tampa in an OCN1X for $16 last time out and the winner from that one came back to win in his next start. Gaffalione takes the call. Interesting.
  3. Rebelde (7-2), A Arroyo, T Pompay – Trainer struggling to get his first win at the meet and drops this one way down hoping to find the winners circle with horse who last won here at this distance last spring. Definitely the horse for the course with back class.
  4. One Eyed Jack (9-2), L Reyes, Enrique Amado – Three of his 4 lifetime wins have come for half this price – including a last out victory here at this distance. Twice sent to the starting gate at this level but couldn’t make the step up in class. Jockey/Trainer are successful together and he has the highest last race Beyer (75) of the field. But there’s the class problem.
  5. Dani’s Victory (8-1), E Wilson, William Tharrenos – Claimed for $15K two races back from a Woodbine all-weather effort going 7 furlongs. 8-year-old Canadian specialist will be making his first start on dirt and first at GP. At 8-1 in the morning line, he’s the unknown in the field. But the drop in class could be his ticket home if he takes to the track.
  6. Old Time Revival (5-1), L R Reyes, Kathy Mongeon – Claimed from his last two starts at this level, he’s 0 for 5 at this distance. Won a two-back 7 furlong sprint here in front running fashion. But will go for a trainer who is 0 for 8 at the meet and ridden by a jockey who is 0 for 27.
  7. Meade (6-1), J Alvarado, Oscar Gonzalez – Exits an all-weather race for $20K that produced a next out winner. Won a couple of races at this distance last year when Alvarado was aboard. Drop in class should help his cause.

Post time for DRF’s Race of the Day is scheduled for 2:02 PM ET and will go as race 4 on the 9 race card for Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Gulfstream.
