Fall Highweight Handicap: Stallwalkin’ Dude Carries the Package

Stallwalkin’ Dude to carry 134 lbs. in the Fall Highweight Handicap at Aqueduct

Nine are expected to go postward in the Thanksgiving Day feature at Aqueduct including Stallwalkin’ Dude, an easy winner in his last start at Belmont for trainer David Jacobson.

Fall Highweight Odds and Analysis

  1. Weekend Hideaway – Second choice in the morning line, with 130 lbs. he’ll carry 4 less than the favorite for the 6 furlong feature. A New York bred who has but one start at Aqueduct when he finished 6th in the ’14 running of the Highweight run on a sloppy track. Interestingly, this son of Speightstown is 6 for 7 on the board over an off-track, including 4 wins, but wasn’t able to handle it here in that lone race. At 7 to 2, with a trainer who is 0’fer at the meet in 4 starts and in graded stakes company, it’s hard to back him with any confidence. Odds: 7 to 2. Weight: 130 lbs
  2. Heaven’s Runway – At 30 to 1 this guy’s chances seem slim to ‘a Saint Mary of Guadalupe Nun’ as he’s won but once in his last 18 attempts over a two year span when he took a 6f dash at Delaware in a 4 horse field. He was off the board in the G3 Toboggan here in January and finished 4th in a subsequent try over the Big A inner in February. Not sure what to make of him as he’s changed barns several times in his 6 years, most recently in August when claimed for $62K by Rodriguez who moves him back to the dirt where he’s 1 for 19 lifetime from 5 total wins. Odds: 30 to 1. Weight: 123
  3. Ready for Rye – 4 year old was 7 for 8 in the money in ’15 including 4 wins. But ’16 has been a different story as he’s 0 for 7 in the winner’s circle. Looks like his 7th place finish in the ’15 BC Turf Sprint at Keeneland knocked him out because he hasn’t been the same since. Albertrani just 6% with graded stakes runners but this time he’ll face softer company. However, he was beaten by a bundle in the Forego behind today’s favorite. Odds: 5 to 1. Weight: 130
  4. Spartiatis – 6 year old son of Scat Daddy is eligible for NW4L and will go for a trainer who doesn’t send out many stakes runners. On paper this guy appears over-matched but does get the services of 16% winning jockey Gallardo for the first time. Pass. Odds: 20 to 1. Weight: 122
  5. The Great War – Came to the U.S. for the ’14 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile to finish fourth and never looked back for Tabor, et al. Has been in the competent hands of Ward throughout ’15 – ’16 campaign managing two wins in 10 starts since the ‘Cup run. Won last time out as the favorite going 6 1/2 at Keeneland and will be making his first start at Aqueduct. Trainer just 3% in graded stakes and is 1 for 1 with Johnny V. in the irons. Tall order but they must have thought something of him as a two-year old and may get better with age. Odds: 12 to 1. Weight: 127
  6. Angry Moon – Third choice in the field for Englehart who is 0 for 13 at the meet. Took his last two starts going gate to wire in OC races where he could have been had for $100k last time out. Canadian bred is a 5 year old son of turfer Langfuhr but is 3 of 8 winning on a fast dirt track. This is a big step up for him but it appears the move to the main track at Saratoga and Belmont for back to back wins has enlightened this fellow. However, graded stakes haven’t been in the cards for trainer, and he’ll have to carry 6 more lbs on the front end today. Your call. Odds: 4 to 1. Weight:128
  7. All Star Red – Won his only start at Aqueduct in April of this year when he took a 6 1/2 OCN2X for $62,500. Distance is a concern for this off-the-pace type guy who will need fast fractions in front of him to get home a winner. Gets Castellano who is 40% when teaming with Rodriguez here over the past two years. Angry Moon beat him twice in his last three races but Aqueduct might be where the tables are turned. Like his chances. Odds: 8 to 1. Weight: 126
  8. Green Gratto – Carries two more lbs. than when he took this race last year going wire-to-wire at $24 for the dollar. Will have company on the front-end today and beaten by the favorite in his last two starts. Draws wide for jockey/trainer combo who does well here at 44% and a positive ROI of almost $9. Still he won’t be alone on the lead and barely hung on last year. Odds: 20 to 1. Weight: 126
  9. Stallwalkin’ Dude – Winner of over $1 million from 16 lifetime victories, he’ll carry the fields high weight 134 lbs off an impressive win in the G3 Bold Ruler last time out at Belmont. No doubt he’s the class of the field and to his advantage he’ll be cutting back in distance over a fast surface in to a decent pace, and at a distance he likes. Hard to knock. Odds: 2 to 1. Weight: 134
