Travers Day 2015 at Saratoga is sold out

Travers Stakes 2015The best of summer racing from Saratoga continues the weekend of August 29 with the 146th running of the G1 Travers Stakes.

NYRA.com is reporting that Saratoga is sold out for the Travers as horse racing fans continue to find the sport of kings a worthy investment of time and money for an enjoyable day at the races.

The 2015 Travers Day card features six Grade 1 races headlined by Travers 146, a $1.25 million race for three-year-olds which is being billed as a “Mid-Summer Derby.”

As expected, Travers Day tickets are sold out due to a cap on the number of paid admissions and an expansion of the program with the addition of three G1 stakes and a G2 for a total of $5 million in purse money available to horsemen.

Here is a list of the 7 graded stakes races in no particular order:

The Sword Dancer Invitational at 1 1/2 miles on the turf for $1 million

The Personal Ensign for fillies and mares at 1 1/8 miles for a purse of $750,000

The Priority One Forego at 7 furlongs for $700,000

The Travers Stakes at 1 1/4 miles for 3YO for a purse of $1.25 million. This year Saratoga is offering an incentive to attract American Pharoah. If he enters and runs in the Travers the purse will be increased to $1.6 million.

The Ballerina for fillies and mares for a purse of $500,000

The King’s Bishop for $500,000

The G2 Ketel One Ballston Spa on the turf for fillies and mares for a purse of $400,000

Possible starters for the Travers include Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, Belmont runner up Frosted, and Preakness runner up Tale of Verve.
