Liam returns after a long layoff to contest the Race of the Day at Gulfstream
Liam, who last raced more than a year ago in the G3 Oklahoma Derby at Remington Park, returns in today’s 7th race at Gulfstream as the 3-1 morning line favorite.
The 4 year-old son of Liam’s Map has just one win from four starts when he won a maiden special weight going 1 mile 70 yards in his third lifetime start for trainer Danny Pish at Remington.
Todd Pletcher will send out Liam for his first start since taking over his training. He’s working good and a DRF clocker note has him galloping out strongly at the end of a 1:00.2 breeze going 5 furlongs a week ago.
At 4-1 is Hercules who will make his third start off a layoff and will be switching back to dirt after two all-weather races over the Gulfstream Tapeta surface. The 3 year-old son of Brethren has made four trips to the winner’s circle at Gulfstream Park including a string of three consecutive wins earlier this year. Tyler Gaffallone will be aboard for trainer Juan Alvarado who has yet to saddle a winner at the meet.
Create Again will open at 7-2 for trainer Peter Walder who will give the leg up to jockey Emisael Jamarillo who will try to make it two in a row after a front-running victory at this level here in September.
