Coupled Entry opens 2-5 in Aqueduct Race 7

Life Is Great, one of two last out maiden winners from the barn of owner Esteban Vargas, will open with stablemate Hagler as the prohibitive favorites at 2-5 to win today’s Race of the Day.

Sired by Tapiture, the 2-year-old Life Is Great won a last out maiden special weight in a 7 furlong sprint in his first trip over the Aqueduct surface last month. Prior to that he was close in his previous four attempts on the NYRA circuit at Belmont and Saratoga.

The other half of the entry was a last out winner in a MSW going 6 1/2 furlongs at Belmont in his second career start for trainer Rudy Rodriguez. Like his stablemate, he’s a son of Tapiture, and both horses might find themselves in a speed duel to the wire.

Life Is Great has the field-best Beyer (81), while Hagler earned a 78 in his last start to make him second best in the field.
