Senior Investment Nips West Coast to win Lexington Stakes

Keeneland Stakes Meet Banner

And just like that Senior Investment wins the G3 $200,000 Lexington Stakes and the 10 Road to the Kentucky Derby prep race points that comes with it.

But wait, he didn’t need them. And neither did any of the other runners in the race.

Kenny McPeek, trainer of Senior Investment was quick to mention after the race that “Churchill ought to add more points to this race immediately.”

It does seem odd that a G3 race for 3 year-olds that is run in Lexington just a few weeks before the Kentucky Derby is only worth 10 points to the winner. Because I would imagine there would be a lot more interest in the race regardless of its closeness on the calendar to the first Saturday in May.

MakeRacingGreatAgain.com wrote a story on the Lexington Stakes that’s worth a read.
