Breeders’ Cup Pre-Entries Announced

The Breeders’ Cup announced pre-entries for the 34th running of the two-day event that started it all when it comes to big money races attracting world-wide attention of owners, trainers, and thoroughbred horse racing fans around the globe.

For the first time ever, the Breeders’ Cup will be hosted by Del Mar on November 3-4.

Horse of the Year candidates Gun Runner and Arrogate will face-off in the $6 million Breeders’ Cup Classic going 1 1/4 miles on the dirt. Arrogate will be making the final start of his short but spectacular career, hoping to add to his earnings of more than $17 million.

A total of 187 horses that includes 42 of the top European runners have been pre-entered for the 13-race West Coast weekend of world-class racing.

Aidan O’Brien leads all Euro Trainers with 14 pre-entries

Fourteen of the 42 Euros were pre-entered by Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien whose name has become synonymous with Breeders’ Cup contenders based in Europe.

The deadline for entries to all 13 races is Monday morning, and post positions will be drawn later that day.
