Woodbine Mile: Tower of Texas Take Three
Tower of Texas returns as probable favorite for 2017 running of the Ricoh Woodbine Mile
Tower of Texas, last year’s Woodbine Mile runner up to female sensation and two time Eclipse award winning mare Tepin, breezed five furlongs in just under a minute over the turf on Sunday under his regular rider Eurico Rosa da Silva.
This will be the third time in as many years that Tower of Texas will seek the lion’s share of the $800,000 purse which has been reduced down from the $1 million up for grabs in the ’15 and ’16 running’s.
In 2015 the 6-year-old Canadian bred was a well beaten seventh, before finishing the 2016 running a 1/2 length behind the now retired Tepin who is currently in foal to Curlin.
