TimeformUS PPs added to DRF handicapping arsenal

I received an email yesterday from Daily Racing Form announcing the addition of TimeformUS past performances to the DRF family of products.

I’ve looked at the Timeform PPs on occasion but without giving them much consideration, I never really got to know how to use them in my handicapping.

TimeformUS PPs Differ How?

The email briefly mentions two points that make TimeformUS PPs different from the DRF PPs I’ve come to know like the back of my hand.

“It’s All About the Pace”

  1.  As in how to quickly visualize a race and project its pace.
  2. Gives handicappers a “single number” as a speed figure that’s adjusted for pace and reflects overall performance.

As I said, I’ve never really given them much thought and may have totally misinterpreted how they pointed out the difference between the two.

If you’re interested, you can join a webinar hosted by TimeformUS Chief Figure Maker Craig Milkowski and DRF’s Peter Thomas Fornatale and Mike Hogan happening at 8:00 AM PST.

Most handicappers that I know are familiar with the Beyer Speed Figure and I’m curious to hear how it differs, if at all, to what’s published in the TimeformUS PPs.

Use TimeformUS PPs Yourself?

If you do, feel free to share your thoughts and experience with the rest of us in the comments section below.
