Tampa Bay Downs Gets New Race Caller

Tampa Bay Downs opens it’s 2021-22 season on Wednesday with a new race caller and plenty of upgrades to the facility.

Jason Beem will be the new voice booming from the announcer’s booth atop the grandstand after long-time race caller Richard Grunder has retired his microphone after a 37 year career calling races for fans of the Oldsmar, Florida track.

Track VP Tom McLaughlin announced the upgrades include the addition of sand to the dirt course and a ‘spruced up the turf course’ as a couple of new things fans should consider when handicapping the Tampa Bay races.
