The Springboard Mile is the last US stop in 2018 for two-year old horses on the Road to the Kentucky Derby. The Sunday feature at Remington Park will reward the winner with 10 points and a fifth place tie on the Kentucky Derby leaderboard where Game Winner holds the top spot with 30 points.

But the points are not the only point for targeting the Mile.

Easy Money Mile

With a $400,000 purse, the Springboard Mile winning connections will receiving a handsome check for $240,000 — a nice payday for a horse who is less likely to start in Kentucky Derby 2019 on the first Saturday in May then he is to take home the top prize for two-year-olds in Oklahoma this Sunday.

Zen-Nippon Nisai Yushun at Kawasaki on December 19 in Japan is on the Road to the Kentucky Derby. Points up for grabs: 20-8-4-2

Steve Asmussen will send out five of the 11 entrants in the Springboard Mile. Bankit appears to be his best shot as the 3-1 second choice in the field. His a New York bred by Central Banker that won the Sleepy Hollow in his last start and will face open company for the second time in his career.

Dunph won his first two before an unpleasant effort over the slop in the Kentucky Jockey Club last time out. He’ll get a new rider for trainer Mike Maker who is two-for-two at Remington this year. And at 10-1 he’s a better bet than most in here.

Epic Dreamer will open at 8-5 for trainer Kelly Breen. He took a maiden special weight last time out at Belmont and cuts back in distance. Sitting on a best of 27 four furlong bullet move on December 7, the son of Orb will take plenty of action from bettors.
