Miner’s Gem seeks 4th in a row

Twice a winner for trainer Demelza McMahon in back to back starts since arriving at Penn National, Miner’s Gem, the 3-year-old home bred daughter of Distorted Humor, will take a step up in class seeking her fourth straight in a 6 furlong allowance for non-winners other than 1 race.

Prior to her current three race winning streak, she was fitted with blinkers and had little success through her first nine career starts.

A change of equipment to blinkers off coupled with a drop into low level claiming competition and she sailed through non-winners of two and three lifetime conditions on her way back to this level. She’s used her early speed to victory but will have plenty of high level competition this time out.

Miner’s Gem opens at 6-1.

Holle Racing Stable LLC homebred After the Party seeks second career win in allowance company at Penn National

Trainer Jeremiah Englehart, who has a win and a place from two starters at the meet, will send out After the Party, the 3-year-old daughter of Into Mischief, for her fourth career start since her maiden voyage at Aqueduct in April.

Making her second start since a sixth place finish under similar conditions at Laurel in her last start, After the Party (3-1) will open as the morning line favorite.

Post time for the Race of the Day, race six on Penn Nationals card, is scheduled for 8:16 PM ET.
