3-year-old fillies go long on dirt at the Big A
A paltry field of five 3-year-old fillies and mares headlines a return to action in the 1 1/8 miles $100,000 Bay Ridge Stakes for New York bred horses at Aqueduct.
Three of the five fillies entered will open within a point of each other in the morning line odds, with the handicapper making Ice Princess the slight favorite at 8-5 over Sharp Starr (9-5).
At 2-1 is the 5-year-old mare Maiden Beauty who was a last out winner going 1 mile in an optional claiming race here for trainer Robert Falcone. She is a four-time winner at Aqueduct and will be the likely pacesetter under regular rider Kendrick Carmouche.
Morning line favorite Ice Princess was a winner three back at this distance in a NW1X allowance at Saratoga. And was runner up in her last start behind second choice Sharp Starr.
Sharp Starr is one of two for trainer Horacio DePaz. She exits a fourth place finish in the 2021 running of the G3 Go For Wand — a race she won in 2020.
It should be noted that none of the horses will run with Lasix.
Post time for the Bay Ridge Stakes is scheduled for 3:36 PM ET and will go as race 7 on the eight race Thursday card.
