New York breds close out 2021 in Alex M. Robb Stakes

A field of nine horses have been entered for the feature Race of the Day, the $100,000 Alex M. Robb Stakes going 1 1/8 miles on the New Year’s Eve card at Aqueduct.

Front running Sea Foam (5-2), who was 4th in the 2020 running will look to get back on track after his two most recent starts failed to produce a winning effort for the high percentage trainer Michelle Giangiulio who is 3 for 3 with starters at Aqueduct this meet.

Danny California will be making his first start for trainer Rudy Rodriguez since a 7th place finish here over 30 days ago. He was fourth beaten a length by Sea Foam two back at this distance in the Empire Classic and will need to take a big step forward.

Three-year-old Brooklyn Strong (6-1) will be making his first start against older horses and first since June. He was fourth behind Mandaloun last time out. And finished well back of Medina Spirit in the Kentucky Derby in May. He’ll appreciate the return to New York bred company and was the G2 Remsen winner here last December.

This is a good field with plenty of opportunity to beat the favorite.

Post time for the Alex M. Robb Stakes is scheduled for 3:36 PM ET and will go as race 7 on the eight race Friday card on New Year’s Eve.
