Lindy Farms and Equinex Racing’s Abuse of Power, who was fitted with blinkers for the first time in her last start when third on Belmont’s inner turf, will open as the morning line favorite for trainer Philip Antonacci.

The now 4-year-old daughter of Karakontie was an easy winner at 3 on the turf at Monmouth against maidens going 5 1/2 in her second career start.

Listed as a slight favorite at 7-2, she’ll appreciate the cutback in her return from a sixty day layoff.

Igloo Returns on Turf

A first out winner in a six furlong sprint on Turfway’s all-weather to end her two year old season, Igloo made her three-year-old debut in late February finishing third in a Turfway stakes before going idle.

She’ll make her return on turf in today’s Race of the Day.

Trained by trainer Jonathan Thomas for Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, she was given time off to develop and has breezed twice on turf at Belmont in preparation for her return.

Listed at 4-1, she’ll open as the early second choice in the field of nine and will break from post position two.

Thursday’s Race of the Day at Gulfstream Park is for three and four-year-old fillies going 5 furlongs on the turf.

The full field from the rail out includes High Speed Stef (9-2), Igloo (4-1), Headline Hunter (8-1), Moon of Love (20-1), Runaway Rockette (6-1), Abuse of Power (7-2), Strongerthanuknow (8-1), Mamba Wamba (5-1), Honorgetic (10-1). Zia’s Song (12-1) is on the AE list.

Post time for the Race of the Day, race 9 on the Gulfstream Park card for Thursday, December 23, 2021 is scheduled for 4:32 PM ET.
