The 2018 Kentucky Derby is only 1 month away. And each year Churchill Downs offers early wagering on twenty-three of the best three-year-old individual prospects in the country, plus a field wager that includes all other runners eligible to run. The field may include the eventual winner, but who has not yet registered a mark on the radar screen of handicappers and prognosticators of the 2018 Kentucky Derby. At the close of Pool 3 the field price stands at $4.00 to $1.00, but it’s not likely at this point that anyone in the field will even make the race.

Pool 4 Opening Odds Preview
The field is the current favorite at 4-1. Followed by Justify who is second choice at 6-1 and the likely favorite for the Santa Anita Derby on April 7 when he’ll face off against Bolt d’Oro (7-1) who’s odds to win the Kentucky Derby have risen despite having won his last start in the San Felipe Stakes. However, it should be noted that McKinzie crossed the line first but was disqualified for interference with Bolt d’Oro through the stretch and placed second. McKinzie will open as the third choice at 9-1 when Pool 4 wagering starts on Friday.
