Pennsylvania Derby Headlines $2.5 Million Up for Grabs at Parx
UPDATED: September 21, 2017
The field for the 2017 running of the $1 million Pennsylvania Derby for 3 year olds going 1 1/8 miles will feature the newest star from the barn of Bob Baffert.
West Coast, the recent winner of the G1 Travers at Saratoga, has now won four in a row and will be looking to nail down top 3 year old honors in a year where it’s anyone’s to win.
He’ll face off against Irap the upset winner of the G2 Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland, who ultimately finished a distant 18th in the Kentucky Derby beaten 40 lengths by the less than impressive classmate Always Dreaming.
Irap is listed as the 3 to 1 second choice off his third place finish in the Travers.
