Handicapping the ‘Cup’: Check the weather

There are a few tried and true angles that all handicappers should adhere to. But none are more important than handicapping a race with weather conditions in mind.

It’s getting late in the year and when the Breeders’ Cup is run in Kentucky, New York or anywhere other than the West Coast the chance of “unsettled weather” is likely.

Churchill Downs Weather

Jonathan Lintner at horseracingnation.com spent time talking the Churchill Downs weather forecast for Breeders’ Cup 2018.

“Jude Redfield, meteorologist at local FOX affiliate WDRB 41, said there’s a “likelihood for unsettled weather” sometime Thursday through Sunday in the region, and that below-average temperatures with highs in the 40s or 50s can be expected.”
