Big John B Wins Del Mar Handicap

Big John B wins the G2 Del Mar Handicap for the second year in a row.

Last through the first 3/4 of the 1 3/8 mile turf event, Big John B rallied down the center of the trackt to score a decisive victory for owner Michael House and trainer Phil D’Amato.

This win give the 6 year-old son of Hard Spun his third straight win and puts him in the hunt for a Breeders’ Cup Turf try in October at Keeneland.

Last year Big John B finished a disappointing ninth in the 2014 running of the BC Turf held at Santa Anita and if he’ll have to travel to Kentucky where he’ll face his toughest competition yet as the other Breeders’ Cup Challenge winners look to face off for the biggest turf race of their careers.

Jockey Rafael Bejarano was aboard for Saturday’s win in the Del Mar Handicap.
