2014 Breeders’ Cup Classic
The 2014 Breeders’ Cup Classic – Saturday November 1, 2014 is for 3-year-olds and up going 1 and 1/4 mile for a purse of $5,000,000 and brings together the best horses from around the world competing for the championship. In 2009 Zenyatta became the first female to win the Classic.
Contenders
The list of contenders for this year’s Breeders’ Cup Classic is all but complete.
According to the official Breeders’ Cup website there are 17 horses with a shot to win the championship including Breeders’ Cup Challenge Race winners Shared Belief, Bayern, Majestic Harbor, Moreno and the 2014 Belmont and Jockey Club Gold Cup winner Tonalist.
Other notable contenders include California Chrome winner of the 2014 Kentucky Derby and Preakness, and the top older grass and multiple graded stakes winner Wise Dan who may be making the final start of his long and illustrious career in one of this year’s Breeders’ Cup races.
