In the DRF feature Race of the Day at Aqueduct, a field of six older fillies and mares led by Miss Leslie will go to post in the 1 1/8 miles Ladies Stakes for a purse of $100,000. Get free pps.
Here’s the field from the rail out with morning line odds, jockey, trainer, and comments.
- Exotic West (10-1), D Davis, Gary Sciacca – Last out winner going 1 mile in a starter allowance as the favorite, making her 1 for 1 at the Big A. It was her third lifetime win and the second time in the last six starts to race on dirt and win. Distance won’t be a concern as her NW2L challenge was met with ease at Saratoga. Individually, jockey and trainer are doing fine at the meet. But together, they are 0 for 3. Chance.
- Kiss the Girl (6-1), M Franco, Michael Trombetta – Easy winner at Laurel two back going this distance against lesser company. Makes her first start at Aqueduct off a third place finish behind Miss Leslie in a similar stakes at her home base. Needs to find more to turn tables in here.
- Vienna Code (12-1), E Cancel, Andrew Williams – NW4L eligible and winner of two of last four vs. NY bred horses. She’s making her first two-turn start over a track she likes, in a tough spot.
- Battle Bling (5-2), T McCarthy, Rob Atras – NW3L eligible for trainer who is rocking the stats at the meet with 8 wins in 35 starts. Goes first time off the claim from a key race and should find herself part of the pace. But distance and her will to win is in question.
- Miss Leslie (8-5), A Cruz, Claudio Gonzalez – Deserving favorite has won her last two overnight stakes and three in a row. Comes to New York for the first time and will be tough to beat assuming she doesn’t need Lasix to do it.
- Its Cold in Dehere (5-2), J Lezcano, Linda Rice – Comes to New York off a front running victory going this distance at Churchill. Expect her to set the pace from this post without much effort. Winner of three of last four, she’s taking a slight step up but this distance is perfect for the daughter of Ice Box.
Post time for DRF’s Race of the Day is scheduled for 3:50 PM ET and will go as race 8 on the 9 race card for Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Aqueduct.
