Aqueduct’s jockeys walked off after Sunday’s first race, canceling the final eight contests in protest over NYRA’s treatment of Clerk of Scales Brian Pochman and added duties placed on the assistant clerk. Riders, led by Kendrick Carmouche and backed by the Jockeys’ Guild, viewed the moves as disrespectful and potentially compromising to racing integrity.

After intensive talks Monday involving NYRA officials and Guild representatives, an agreement was reached. The disputed administrative tasks will be reviewed, communication protocols improved, and all parties committed to moving forward.

NYRA confirmed racing will resume Thursday with a full card. “We’re pleased to have reached a resolution and look forward to a strong weekend,” said spokesman Pat McKenna.

Carmouche called the outcome “a win for the jocks’ room,” adding that the colony is ready to ride. The quick settlement avoided a prolonged disruption at the winter meet’s flagship track.
