And each year Churchill Downs offers early wagering on twenty-three of the best three-year-old individual prospects in the country, plus a field wager that includes all other runners eligible to run. The field may include the eventual winner, but who has not yet registered a mark on the radar screen of handicappers and prognosticators of the 2018 Kentucky Derby.

Pool 3 Opening Odds Preview
Bolt d’Oro opened as co-favorite with ‘the field’ at 6-1 when future wagering opened for Pool 3. Audible, McKinzie and Promises Fulfilled opened as co-second choices at 8-1. Seven points back at 15-1 in opening odds were Free Drop Billy, Good Magic, Justify, Solomini and Strike Power.
Pool 3 Closing Odds Review
At the close of wagering on Sunday, the Mutuel Field was listed at 4-1, while Bolt d’Oro fell 1 point to 7-1 behind Justify (6-1). McKinzie stands alone at 9-1 from the opening at 15-1.
