Preakness Stakes 2025

The field for the 150th running of the Preakness Stakes on Saturday, May 17 includes the current favorite Journalism who was second as the favorite in the 2025 Kentucky Derby and Sandman who was seventh in the Derby after what his trainer describes as a troubled trip over a less than favorable sloppy track. Other contenders for the Preakness include American Promise (16th in the Derby) and several newcomers.

Entries for the Preakness close on Monday morning and the draw for post positions will be later in the day on Monday at Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Baltimore.
